The History Of Pete's List

Although he’s never been to an advisory group meeting, Pete is an all-star member of each of our advisory groups and Pete’s List is a staple on every meeting agenda.

Pete’s List represents the feedback on the issues that cause sand in the gears. Because the little things are the big things, we want our advisory groups to feel comfortable sharing the tactical, time-consuming, hard (when they should be easy) types of issues.

Pete represents the people that use the products every day, often all day every day. Pete knows what works and what doesn’t. What’s easy and what’s hard. Pete’s the one who gets called when something doesn’t work.

Most of our advisory group discussions are forward-looking and strategic, but without a place for the little things that need attention, the picture isn’t complete.

We encourage each of our advisory group members to bring Pete’s List to every meeting and put it on the table, and we encourage our advisory group sponsors to welcome the tactical, fussy feedback just as they welcome the strategic ideas.

We call it Pete’s List because it started out truly as Pete’s List. In 2014, an advisory group member brought Pete’s List to the meeting – our advisor was the CFO of a middle market manufacturing company, and Pete was the Controller. The items on Pete’s List were honest and valuable feedback and became an important part of the bank sponsor’s action plans.

Pete made Comerica Bank better that day. The Comerica team has welcomed Pete’s List to every meeting, and we’re grateful to Pete, his boss Kirk, and the Comerica team for giving us a true best practice. We’ve had Pete’s List on our agendas ever since.
